Abstract

Landscape can be defined as a system created by the action of natural and anthropogenic factors. These effects constantly change the landscape and its structure and therefore, from an ecological point of view, affect its stability. The issue of ecological stability of the landscape is currently one of the frequently solved themes. In the present paper, we focused on the land use changes over three time horizons (1st military mapping, topographic mapping and current land use map), which to a certain extent, influenced the ecological stability of the Myjava River Basin. Various methodologies for determining ecological stability coefficients (KES) were used to quantify these changes. The aim of the work was to compare the land use changes and also changes of the ecological stability, as well as design of ecostabilizing elements to increase the ecological stability of the area.
