Ethics in publishing

Authors have a responsibility to present their work with the intellectual integrity that the scientific community expects. Authors should ensure that they have written entirely original works, and if they have used the work and/or words of others, these should be appropriately cited or quoted. Authors should not concurrently submit a paper to more than one journal or primary publication, and should not submit a previously published paper for consideration.

Using AI-assisted technologies

Where authors use generative AI and AI-assisted technologies in the writing process, these technologies should only be used to improve readability and language of the work. Applying the technology should be done with human oversight and control and authors should carefully review and edit the result.

Authors should not list AI and AI-assisted technologies as an author or co-author, nor cite AI as an author.

Conflict of interest

All authors must disclose any financial and personal relationships with other people or organizations that could inappropriately influence (bias) their work. Examples of potential conflicts of interest include employment, consultancies, stock ownership, honoraria, paid expert testimony, patent applications/registrations, and grants or other funding.
